Disgusting Is my middle name

“I am not a woman whose body is a toy to play
I am endless
I am power
I am countless waves of emotion and fire.
Don’t you dare tell me what to desire...”
Disgusting Is My Middle Name by Amanda Poise is an ode to women, and follows Alina on the transformation she undergoes while healing post sexual assault.
Written in spoken word and poetry, this production focuses on the aftermath and tackles the complexities of self-love, awareness, and acceptance.
Originally set for the stage, it was then adapted for the screen during COVID-19. We utilized a film/ theatrical lens to create a living. breathing recording to explore and share this piece in a brand new way.
